VMI Piranha Attachment |
The Piranha excavator attachment is an alternative to a conventional floating dredge. Two models of the Piranha
Excavator Attachment are available, the MDE-4HN and MDE-6HN which attach to a track-hoe excavator in place of the
bucket. The Piranha Excavator Attachment is designed to remove material from shallow pits where a dredge may not be
practical. The Piranha Excavator Attachment has two hydraulic driven augers that feed material to the slurry pump which
discharges the material through discharge pipe to the disposal site or equipment. Both models have their own
diesel/hydraulic power-pack which mounts on the back of the excavator in place of the counter weight. All of the controls
are installed in the operators cab for easy operation.

Hard Material Piranha
VMI also has a Piranha designed for hard material. This design uses a horizontal cutter head resembling the cutter head
of VMI horizontal dredges. The cutter assembly features carbide tipped teeth for maximum durability and life. The design
allows the carbide tipped teeth to be easily replaced . The cutter drum is driven by a planetary gearbox powered by a
hydraulic motor.
